Five kinds of work, for the same clients, year after year

Most clients use two or three of these. Whichever you need, you will deal with the same partner and manager each time.

Accounts and compliance

The statutory work every business needs, done properly and on time, with a one-page letter in plain English that explains what the figures mean.

  • Year-end accounts for companies, partnerships and sole traders
  • Confirmation statements and company secretarial filings
  • Monthly or quarterly management accounts
  • Accounts for charities and community organisations, with support for treasurers and trustees

Tax

Returns filed on time and planning done ahead of time, not in the week before a deadline. We tell you what a decision will cost in tax before you make it.

  • Corporation tax returns and planning
  • Personal tax and self assessment, including landlords and partners
  • VAT registration, returns and Making Tax Digital
  • PAYE, benefits in kind and employment taxes
  • R&D tax relief claims, prepared cautiously and documented fully
  • Help with HMRC enquiries and disputes

Private client

For families with a business, a farm, property or savings to pass on. We work alongside your solicitor, who handles wills and probate, so that the tax and the legal work agree.

  • Estate and succession planning
  • Inheritance tax planning, including business and agricultural property relief
  • Trust tax returns and trustee accounts
  • Estate accounts and tax returns for executors

Business advisory

The decisions that come along once or twice in the life of a business. We have sat through a great many of them, and we will tell you plainly whether we think the plan works.

  • Forecasts, budgets and cash flow
  • Preparing for bank lending or outside investment
  • Business valuations
  • Buying or selling a business
  • Management buy-outs and employee ownership trusts
  • Handing a family business to the next generation

Outsourced finance

A finance function for businesses too small to employ one. Our team has run a payroll bureau since 1984 and has moved most of our clients onto cloud bookkeeping.

  • Bookkeeping and bank reconciliation
  • Payroll, pensions auto-enrolment and payslips
  • Setting up and tidying cloud accounting systems
  • A part-time finance director, for a day a week or a day a month

How we charge

Fixed fees, agreed in writing before we start and reviewed once a year. If you ask for something outside what we agreed, we tell you what it will cost before we begin. Nobody should receive an invoice they did not expect.

A first conversation costs nothing. We will ask about your business, tell you honestly whether we are the right firm for it, and if we are, send a written proposal with the fee.
